The Problem Isn’t Just the Bag

The most sustainable bag
is the one you never use.

A 2022 peer-reviewed study (Mai et al., Environmental Pollution) estimated 82 billion plastic dog waste bags consumed annually across North America. Bags are only the most visible part of the problem — dog waste also pollutes waterways, threatens public health, and represents over a billion dollars in renewable energy and fertilizer value sent straight to landfills.

The Poddy is the only product designed to address all three. It eliminates the bag, routes waste to the wastewater system the EPA recommends, and turns a daily nuisance into something better for your walk, your community, and the planet.

A note on the numbers: the bag estimate above comes from Mai et al., 2022 (Environmental Pollution), covering all of North America. Resource-value and adoption math throughout the site is built on the ~72 million suburban and urban dogs in the U.S. that represent the realistic addressable market for a collection system like the Poddy.

Three ways into the story.

1Scoop

The scooper is integrated into the lid. Waste lifts cleanly — no hand contact, no thin bag between you and the problem.

2Seal

The lid screws closed and traps the air, keeping odor in. Carry it home clipped to your belt, leash, or bag.

3Empty

Tip the contents into the toilet — the EPA-recommended method. Rinse. Done. Ready for the next walk.

U.S. Utility Patent
No. 12,297,613 B2  ·  Granted May 2025

A utility patent protects how the Poddy works — not just how it looks. That’s a higher bar, and a stronger protection.
